Lisa Collins is a sole practitioner in Nashville devoting her practice to adoption law and assisted reproductive technology law. Ms. Collins graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1990, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Highest Honors, and from Vanderbilt Law School in 1993. Ms. Collins' adoption practice includes representing adoptive parents, birth parents and adoption agencies in their adoption needs, including domestic private and agency adoptions, related person adoptions, international adoptions, interstate adoptions, contested adoptions, adult adoptions and termination actions in juvenile court. In addition to adoption, she helps clients build their families through assisted reproductive technologies. Her experience with this legal area includes advising/drafting contracts for intended parents and infertility clinics for such procedures as egg donation/in vitro fertilization, embryo dontation and gestational surrogacy.
Since graduating from law school, Ms. Collins has devoted her entire legal career to adoption law and ART. She is a fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproductive Attorneys since 1998 and was a trustee of their Board of Directors. Ms. Collins serves as secretary of the Middle Tennessee Inter-Agency Adoption Coalition, an association of Middle Tennessee Adoption Agencies and adoption professionals. Her other professional memberships include the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations (Adoption Law Section – incoming Chair), and member of the Board of Directors of Papillion Centers, a not-for-profit therapeutic counseling center in Tennessee, Kentucky and Montana.
Ms. Collins has been a presenter at adoption seminars for the Tennessee Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association, the National Business Institute, the Inter-Agency Adoption Coalition, the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts, county clerk divisions and county bar associations, Resolve, and for various private adoption agencies and adoption interest groups. She has also taught adoption classes at Vanderbilt Law School’s Juvenile Practice Clinic and for the Nashville School of Law. She has a keen interest in promoting and developing ethical adoption legislation in Tennessee.
